Plovdiv Airport - The South Gate of Bulgaria

Plovdiv Airport is a regional airport that serves South-Central Bulgaria and a population of over 2 million people in a driving distance of 1.5 hours by road. The airport is located 12 km southeast from the city of Plovdiv - the second largest city and cultural capital of the country. Situated in the very heart of the Balkan Peninsula, the city is an appropriate starting point for travelling around the region.

Plovdiv was recently named the oldest city in Europe, with a history dating back more than 6000 years. The city and its surroundings abound of cultural, archaeological, historical and natural attractions. All year around the city is the host of musical, art and cultural festivals, concerts and forums. The Rhodopes provide conditions for mountain, ecological, hunting and fishing tourism. During winter Plovdiv Airport welcomes foreign ski tourists who chose to spend their holiday in Pamporovo, Borovets and Bansko. The main factor for the development of business tourism is the Plovdiv Fair, as well as the growing number of newly built accommodation facilities.
